Digital Twins for Industrial Robotics

Technologies: Universal Robots UR10 | Mixed Reality | Python | TCP/IP | Unity

To address the high cognitive load of translating 2D screen instructions into 3D physical tasks, I engineered a physics-enabled digital twin of a Universal Robots UR10 industrial arm.

I conducted a mixed-methods study comparing this spatially registered MR environment against a functionally equivalent desktop simulation. The study demonstrated that the MR condition produced significantly greater gains in robot-programming self-efficacy. Participants reported lower perceived effort and frustration, proving that ecologically grounded MR environments provide a superior pathway for procedural training.
